SFW on Quantitative vs. Qualitative Performance Measures for Soccer Football

 A Gateway to Due Process for Manager/Coaches While Empowering Club Leadership… Win – Win!

The SFW Project focuses the Clubs on qualitative measures and moves ahead of the current technology of instant quantitative output data, which is valuable, impressive and already widely available for managers/coaches to focus their emphasis in team training for output of the gross motor skills. But, despite their usefulness, they are not deliberately related to any training in high performance club development leadership and quality control, that is clearly needed for supervision to upgrade the game… across borders and leagues around the world.

Goals scored-for vs. goal scored-against  is a quantitative measure that only offer the final result, that can only indicate that the game was either won, lost or drawn, regardless of the size of the gap in the score margins. The result apart from a drawn game may cause a the loose conclusion that some qualitative differences existed between the teams during the game… which is reasonable.

But just handing a score sheet and asking for useful qualitative comments on team performance from the impassionate football performance scientists, like Michael Krumpf PhD, CEO at soccerscience.net, they will only be able to tell you what you already know. Beyond that, they will  have 100 questions and will  need the video tape of the game. Non will be able to elevated the data you supply beyond the quantitative limitation already exhausted.

And if the score is 100 to nil the game should not have been played and it will be most  unlikely that a consultant will be available from any serious source… seriously.  Any argument beyond this point will have to be taken outside the lab, and will require legal support for the pros and the cons, as well as a panel of jurors with little else to do.

In the above scenario, one can only honestly conclude that one number is indeed greater than the other, enough for a winner to be declared, but the basic quantitative data fail to inform sufficiently to instruct for technical reorientation towards higher performance, especially for the winning team.

The discipline of the science demands more information about the qualitative variables that need to be manipulated  develop the capacities of the club leaders, staff or team to grow. Nothing will be changed by merely looking at the scores.

As a result of Club Leaders not having tools in place for measuring the increments of improvement in dynamic performance, they are unable to ensure the quality of supervision, monitoring and evaluation, that will allow and  demand the manipulation of qualitative out-put from staff.

The information deficit at the Clubs, created from the lack of high performance impact predictability tools, causes  the Leadership to be boxed-in, and the reaction to this helpless frustration has become a common phenomenon within the soccer/football family.  As the pressure builds for unrealistic results, it eventually manifests in the last ditch arbitrary changing of Manager/Coaches becoming a popular, repetitious “final solution”. This great oxymoron, imbedded in our soccer/football culture, can now go quietly out the Club office back door, as enters the Whisperer.

Often times this malady is evident at Clubs even when they already have the best available Manager/Coach. My own favorite club is the most recent case in point… here, a top club, apparently without the capacity to measure and value its own human property, thus having nothing with which to confidently re-assure under-informed fans that are resorting to assaults on the personality their priceless Manager. The turnaround in three games was not based on luck or even pressure from the fans alone, but surely from the work already completed by this great man, without the assistance of the Whisperer.

We therefore, here-by humbly invite the gentleman to retire at the SFW Academy… to help put an end to any more of this messy muddling of a similar nature, at any club in the universe.

Clearly, the Whisperer had to do something about this popular habit of sacrificing  Managers. This behavior amounts to unchallenged dribbling by Clubs into iridescent nothingness, spurred by under-informed and impatient fans and business associates. We all have to hope that this Project will not take too long to at least penetrated the surface in the dig to find a permanent solution this ageing malady!

Based on our search, this SFW Project must be among those on the podium to first offer a Manual to put the Club Leaders in control of ensuring the achievement of sustainable competitive high performance at their clubs, with a new way to continue supporting the hard work of Managers and their coaching staff.

There is something here that is of extreme value to every Club, yet will not add any significant cost to their present budget in order to get started… this to such an extent that no Club in the know will elect to be left behind.

The SFW high performance club development manual provides 100 Principles identified by the Whisperer, outside of which a soccer/football club will never be successful against the ones that confine most of their effort within these Principles.

At least one step back from the cutting edge may be required for taking this spot kick.

Some leaders and their staff may have to temporarily go back to paper, sit/down with peers, make errors, discuss, erase and correct them…. Learn the critical concepts of qualitative performance, get curious learn more, then later get the Whisperer Consultants Soccer/Football Club Performance Development Leadership Apps to staff on their tablets, and practice to develop the dexterity to enter accurate, real time qualitative data, derived from their subjective but Whisperer informed and supported high performance knowledge base constructs.

At this point, I can bet some of my good friends will agree that fake news is easier to understand than this, but someone at the club with leadership authority must be paid to know about all this. After all, it is affordable and the game is getting away from some clubs with all the necessary structural amenities already in place.

It is time for clubs to become institutionalized as many are growing ahead of themselves and getting cut down be underestimated Whisperer convinced former minnows.
